Hello everyone! My blog would be about my science reflection based on this term. 

What is science all about?

  • Science is all about the study of the universe around us and within us, natural phenomena,  and  solutions to problems.

    Scientists use observing through sensing , testing — Experiments & making mistakes, Evidence — collecting DNA & using data/ evidence to back up ideas.

What did you find the most interesting?

  • The most interesting thing I learnt was that science is all around you — you use Science on a daily basis, for example walking, sleeping, any movements, when you brush your teeth & hair, when you eat, drink, swallow, even when you talk, Ect.

What did you learn the most?

  • I had learnt the most during Science Equipment — I learnt more Science Equipment ( Remembered ) I learnt that there was a specific type of  tongs you would use to pickup glass wear to be able to boil the type of liquid without burning your hand.

What would you like to know more about?

  • I would like to learn more about our body — be able to learn what is going to disrupt parts of our body’s, and learn wants good for our body’s that would increases our health hoping for us to live longer. Example I learnt the any type of plastic can disrupt you hormone cycle, If you had a store bought frozen meal that was stored in plastic, if you had heated that you the chemicals from the plastic would sink into the meal. Once you eat your hormone  cycle you get disrupted a little.  I would love to learn about the heart, witch parts of the body is most important — Parts that we didn’t know existed in our body.   

What was your behaviour like, could you do better?

  • From my opinion I feel like I should have tried to at least but my hand up more, but overall I feel like my behaviour was good.  

My overall opinion of this term is?

My overall opinion i about this term is good but there is some things that I am hoping for next term. I am hoping to be able to do more experiments because this term we barely did three. I am hoping that we would do some more about the body and before we did each experiment I would like to be able to Blog my hypothesis, and then Blog what really happened  and add a video to support our hypothesis and what our opinion was on what really happened.

Today in Science we were given things sent into our drive ( One Google doc and one Google sheet ).

We had to come up with 7 different tastes, and then go all over the room asking people what was the two things that they  like ( sweet, sour, salty bitter, spicy, Unami, and savoury.)

Hi the most best bloggers, Today we are seeing what ball would drop the fastest.

Hypothesis

I think that the ping Pong ball will bounce higher than the marble because it is lighter and it’s not as hard.

Background

The ping pong ball is 2.7 grams ( 0.095 ) ( I could not put in link because the thing did not  allow me ) video from youtube ( the video reach was not working )

The marble is 3 grams ( Glass is a perfectly elastic materialvideo from youtube

Equipment

  • Ruler, blue tack, marble, ping pong ball, Chromebook.

Steps

  • get a marble and a pin Pon ball
  • get ruler
  • set up Chromebook on camera video ( try to get slow mo )
  • get really to do it one time ( we did a couple more because we had some extra time so we wanted to see if the marble will bounce a little higher than before )

 

Results

Drops ping pong ball marble

( We did this in slow mo, but is does not allow us to insert it. )

Conclusion

The ping pong ball bounces the highest because it is nice and light. but the marble was too very heavy though ( I was surprised that the glass is perfectly elastic even though is heavy )

 

 

 

Ramp it up!

HI my favorite blogger to day we are in science, and we are creating a ramp for a marble/pin Pon ball to see which would go the furthest.

Hypothesis

I think the marble is going to roll the further because it is lighter and I have seen how far it has gone before.

Plan

  • we are planning to make the run way 4 meter long/ 4000 centimeters.
  • we are going to use a file/blinder, ruler,cones,my Chromebook strap.

Steps

 

Conclusion

It turns out that the marble won!, (yay)

both of the balls did not go the full lathe tho.

The marble went 1. 327.7  2. 285.9 3. 167.8 meters

The pin Pon ball went 1. 246.6 2. 232.1 3. 319.2 meters

Paper Planes

Hi my lovely blogger, This is a quite detailed report but remember that all science experiments should be recorded in detail. The more detail and science, the more chance of hitting Legend. This report is at least a Pro level and at times a Legend but could use even more detail to really take it to the next level, I will be telling you all on what has been done about the paper planes from the start and to the need, Hope you enjoy and hope you enjoy you day.

Hypothesis (What I think will happen)

I think that the small plane will fly further because I added two more wings to make it farther.

Background

The first paper plane was made around 200 years ago.

The longest distance ever flown by a paper plane was 88.1 metres.

There are four forces that act on the paper plane when it is flying.

  • Thrust, how fast it is pushed
  • Lift, how much wing area can be pushed up
  • Gravity, pulls the plane down
  • Drag, slows the plane down

This video shows some information about how paper planes fly. I thought that it does a great job explaining how to make a great paper plane.

 

Equipment

  • A4 paper
  • A5 paper
  • Chalk
  • Metre stick

 

Steps (Method)

Here’s a video of me folding a paper plane

This is my idea: ( Mines better )

We then drew a line with chalk to mark the starting line. Then we took turns throwing the two planes and marking (or taking pictures) or which flew further.

We repeated the throw 3 times.

Results (What we found out)

The big plane flew further.

Conclusion (what it means)

The big/small plane flew further than the other plane.

Why I think that the big plane flew further because it has more strong built in it and its more able to handle the Strong wind.

I did some research and found out that planes with bigger wings fly further because they can generate more lift. Here is a Youtube video explaining why. Especially at 5.30 where he talks about bigger wings generating lift.

 

This website also has a great explanation about wing sizes and lift. It also talks about birds which is our teachers favourite thing so I’ll get extra points for adding this!

What I would change

I would probably make another plane so it will be more interesting and I would rather do it inside than outside because it was too windy.

I think the small one will fly the farthest, because we added 2 extra wings

Steps

  • find a video to follow to make a better plane.
  •  put the camera on your chrome and start to video
  • Though  and see how far it goes

 

Results

The small paper plane went the fastest

why?

because when we added the tow wings the wind will make it glide faster ,and it is lighter.
